"The opening lyric from Great Soul from MMP was inspired by The Simpsons. I have suspected this for a few years and today it was confirmed to me by Billy Ray, who told me "I would say it to Gord all the time, and he would laugh every time."
You may also consider it worth noting an eerie coincidence I stumbled across looking for The Simpsons photo. An indie band in France named their album after the quote, but check out the name of their label!"
The quote is from a season eight episode (1996) entitled, "Hurricane Neddy" which was written by Steve Young.
